A vision, mission and values. Have them. Don't just believe in them. Work them. I have worked with schools, arts organizations, businesses - including nonprofits - on crafting vision and mission statements. Once you have these sentiments crafted, it's time to intentionally work them. (And if any of these elements is more than 10 to 12 words, contact me right away.)

The shared beliefs espoused by a vision, mission and values become your culture. Your culture becomes your brand. Your brand is how interacting with you, your product, your people, and your content makes people feel. What do people feel when they think of you?
